Juan José Negro received his B.Sc. degree in Biology from the University of Seville in 1987 and his Ph.D. in 1991, after which he moved to Montreal, Canada, where he worked as a postdoc for three years at McGill University. His research addresses questions of evolutionary ecology and conservation biology. He was Director of the Doñana Biological Station (CSIC) between 2012 and 2015,
